Need help getting paid ?

If you are performing construction work or supplying related goods and services in Queensland then there is a piece of Legislation that can assist you in getting paid.
It’s called the Building Industry Fairness Act 2017.

What does it do ?

It provides an avenue to assist contractors in Building, Engineering and Construction payment disputes without having to go to Court.

Who can use it ?

Anyone who claims they are owed a progress payment under a construction contract to which the Act applies.
It’s for Builders, Tradespeople (painters, plumbers, chippy’s, electricians etc…) and includes Engineering and Construction companies. It can be for small jobs and claims of a few thousand dollars right up to hundreds of millions of dollars on large scale billion dollar Projects.

Why is it Important ?

It protects Contractors rights to get paid and is a fast, low cost method to resolve a payment dispute.
It’s much simpler, faster and cheaper than engaging a legal team and litigating in Court.
Most disputes in an Adjudication process can be resolved within 30 days of the Application being made.
That puts payment claim money in your hands faster and cheaper than any other method of dispute resolution.
